Renault has officially introduced the Symbioz, a new compact SUV positioned between the Captur and Austral models, enhancing the brand's presence in the C-segment. The Symbioz is now available for order in the UK, with prices starting at £29,295, and the first customer deliveries are expected in September 2024.
Design and Positioning
The Symbioz embodies Renault's "voiture à vivre" philosophy, offering a family-friendly vehicle that combines modular design, connectivity, and efficiency. Its exterior design shares similarities with the Captur, featuring a sleek front end with LED headlights and a distinctive grille pattern. The rear design is more aligned with the Scenic SUV, showcasing angular tail-lights and a robust bumper. The Symbioz measures 4,410mm in length, providing a spacious interior suitable for both families and businesses.
Interior Features
Inside, the Symbioz offers a modern cabin equipped with a 10.4-inch portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen running on Android Automotive OS, providing seamless access to navigation and entertainment apps. A 10.3-inch digital driver display presents essential driving information. The rear seats are designed to slide forward, expanding the boot space from 492 litres to 624 litres, and up to 1,582 litres with the seats folded, enhancing versatility for various cargo needs.
Powertrain and Performance
The Symbioz is powered by Renault's E-Tech 145 hybrid system, which combines a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors and a 1.2kWh battery, delivering a total output of 143bhp. This setup enables efficient urban driving, with the capability to operate in pure electric mode at low speeds, potentially achieving fuel efficiency figures exceeding 60mpg.
