Nissan’s pick-up is one that scores points for power, comfort and technology. It’s a practical car at heart, built to thrive in rural terrain and to carry heavy loads. Whether you need a resilient pick-up for your business or you’re a keen adventurer and need the space for your sports gear, the Nissan Navara won’t disappoint.
The Navara is formidable on the road with a confident, brusque presence. It stands at over five metres in length and has a wide, flat nose that gives it a muscular appearance. Nissan has softened the pick-up’s edges so it has a smarter look – perfect for work and making it an attractive feature on your driveway. From the Acenta+ trim upwards, it comes with rear privacy glass, LED door-mirror indicators and side steps for easier entry into the cabin.
There are two body styles to choose from: King-Cab and Double-Cab. The former is designed purely to be a working vehicle, with less trims and a slightly larger load space at around 1.7 metres in length, compared to the approximate 1.5-metre length of the Double-Cab.
At the front, you and up to four passengers can enjoy a comfortable ride surrounded by heaps of technology and plush fittings. It looks smart and feels sophisticated with its dark finishing, sculpted doors and ergonomic seats. Air conditioning with dual-zone climate control will ensure that everyone is comfortable on the journey. In the Acenta+ trim upwards, there’s a pollen filter to prevent you and your passengers suffering from hay fever while en route.
The load space of the 4x4 double-cab model can hold up to 1,062kg in weight, so it can easily hold your tools, products or sports gear. Moveable cleats allow you to keep your cargo securely in place. There’s the option of a sliding lid if you don’t want the load to get wet and would prefer it to be out of view.
A choice of two 2.3-litre diesel engines power the Navara with either 157bhp or 187bhp. There’s the option of a two-wheel drive in the 157bhp version, and all the others are four-wheel drive for better responsiveness in tough weather conditions. With an average 0-60mph time of around 11 seconds, it has a strong performance and you can easily gain speed to overtake. It will wade through water 0.6 metres in depth, showing how reliable and resilient the model is.
Standard safety features include ABS with EBD, vehicle dynamic control and hill start assist, helping you to maintain a steady drive at all times. The 4x4 models also have hill descent control, which allows you to relax while it takes care of getting you down an incline steadily with no need to put your foot on the brake pedal. Daytime running lights ensure you won’t be missed in poor weather. The Tekna has an around-view monitor which uses four cameras to show you the view at all angles, displayed on the seven-inch screen.
Every Navara has cruise control with a speed limiter, so you can relax on long drives. Bluetooth integration is included, as is a CD player, radio and AUX-in, connecting you to your phone book and your choice of music. In the Acenta+ trim upwards, there’s a reversing camera to help you park without scraping the body of the Navara. The N-Connecta brings you a seven-inch HD touchscreen with NissanConnect, a system that lets you use your phone’s apps while on the move. You also get DAB digital radio and inbuilt satellite navigation.
